OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - The community is coming together to represent the city of Opelika, AL on Tuesday, Aug. 4 starting at 5 p.m.
There will be over 22 community organizations present and represented including local churches, East Alabama Medical Center, East Alabama Mental Health, Opelika Police Department and several others.
The event will take place at Antioch Baptist Church located on W.E. Morton Ave. The National Night Out will begin with a short rally and then a march from Antioch Baptist Church to Covington Recreation Center on Carver Avenue.
Local crime victims will be meeting with citizens to tell their stories and talk about their family members who have been victimized. Information will also be given to attendees about victim's services and where to go for help.
This event is a great opportunity for neighborhood leaders and city officials to come together as one community, and present a united front to fight crime and stand up for victims.
Food, games, prizes for kids, music and dancing will also be provided during this event.
