PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – A ceremony was held Friday to present Phenix City School District with a $25,000 check for their new STEM program.
The money is going to be used to buy new STEM learning centers. STEM which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math is a new initiative where students will get more hands on learning in those areas to be more prepared for jobs in the future.
"A lot more than just financial contribution it means w believe in the students of Phenix City. It means that we believe in the employees of Phenix City. It also means to us we understand that today is a different day and we have to educate students differently," Superintendent Randy Wilkes said,
The school is in the process of getting a new STEM building ready for the next school year. Friday's event was held at the Phenix City Educational Services Center.
