COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The new school year will soon get underway for students across the Chattahoochee Valley, and some local children were learning lessons Friday about the dangers of bullying.
"Be A Girl Like Me" is a non-profit group dedicated to showing young girls how to strive for excellence. On Friday they sponsored an anti-bullying summit at the Columbus Public Library.
Ariel Mobley, the group's CEO, says it's important for children to know how to react should they find themselves the victims of bullying.
"One thing we are stressing is to tell an adult. That is the key thing that each child should not have to handle it by themselves because that is when the trouble starts," said Mobley.
