Tuskegee woman arrested for forgery in Auburn

AUBURN AL (WTVM) – On Monday, Aug. 10 the Auburn Police Division arrested Jhia Gordon, 21, from Tuskegee on a felony warrant.

Gordon was arrested for the possession of a forged instrument in the second-degree.

Around 2:30 p.m. officers responded to a forgery in progress call at a bank located in the 1600 block of S. College Street.

The officers were given the description of an individual who presented a payroll drawn on a local business, for a payment that was determined to be forged.

The bank teller did not cash the forged check and the suspect fled the bank.

Within minutes of the call, an officer located an individual matching the description of the suspect in a vehicle leaving the area, and conducted a traffic stop. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Gordon.

The investigation resulted in Jhia Gordon being identified as the person presenting the forged check for payment.

Gordon was transported to the Lee County jail, and she will be eligible for a $3,000 bond.
