HIV infections dropping in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It's a mixture of good and bad news for Columbus as the latest data on HIV infection rates in the city were released on Friday.

The good news is that HIV Infections have dropped 23 percent for the Fountain City

However, the bad news is that stage 3 AIDS diagnoses, which are the most serious, have risen to more than half of HIV diagnoses in the city.

Officials and activists say that while it is good sign that the infection rate has been lowered, the new data shows people are still waiting too long and too late to get tested.
