FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Beginning August 23, changes will be made to gate access at Sand Hill and Benning Boulevard to enhance security at Fort Benning.
The Access Control Point for Sand Hill on North Custer Road is currently used for outbound traffic only.
This ACP will be closed to all traffic starting Aug. 23, providing greater security to Patton Village residents, White Elementary School and Sand Hill personnel.
A fence will also be installed to prohibit pedestrian traffic from this area.
In addition, access through Benning Boulevard ACP will change on the weekends to allow for greater access, based on traffic studies.
The new hours on Saturdays and Sundays will be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
