PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Eighth grade students at South Girard High School in Phenix City now have their iPads.
They were given to them as part of the STEM program being implemented at the school.
The school has replaced textbooks with the iPads, costing parents only $25 for insurance.
The iPads are being used in every class including PE except in the STEM labs which have computers.
"Everything starts off digital and then it moves to hands on, it gives the students an opportunity to deal with different tools," Brandon Averet said, STEM Lab instructor.
"It's very easy because you can search the page numbers in your iBook so you don't have to take that time turning and you don't have to sit in class to wait for everybody to find the page it's very easy to use it," 8th grade student Laura Coleman said.
Students in sixth and seventh grade have already received their iPads.
