COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Children are back at school and keeping your child healthy could be something parents worry about.
According to the CDC, elementary school children on average get eight to 12 colds or cases of the flu each school year.
Dr. Glenn Harnett with AFC Doctors Express in Columbus says kids are exposed to millions of germs throughout the school year.
Kids interact so much more when they are back to school as opposed to the summer time, which causes them to be exposed to more viruses and bacteria.
Dr. Harnett also says that making sure kids eat a healthy breakfast and get enough rest can boost their immune system as they face the school year.
