CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) – The Chattahoochee County Sheriff's Office announced on Saturday the arrest of a Cusseta man with drugs in his possession related to an illegal narcotics sale.
Officials say that during the observation of suspicious activity and a subsequent traffic stop, James Lavar Thomas, 34, of Cusseta, GA.
Thomas was arrested and charged with one count of possession or marijuana with the intent to distribute, one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, two counts of possession of drug-related objects, and one count of driving with a suspended license.
The arrest led to Thomas's address in the 110 block of Wilson Road in Cusseta, where deputies found approximately one point of marijuana and nearly 11 grams of crack cocaine. The estimated street value of the discovery is $2,500; during the arrest, deputies also seized $2,000 and a 1994 GMC pickup truck.
Thomas appeared in front of a magistrate judge for his first appearance and given a bond, but remains on hold for probation violation.
"The Chattahoochee County Sheriff's Office believes this arrest will impact the drug activity in the county and ask any citizens to please contact them with any information pertaining to this case or any ongoing drug activity," they said in a press release.
