COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness month, and is very deadly because there are no signs or symptoms in the early stages of prostate cancer.
Dr. Paula Walker-King stopped by to raise awareness and talked about the symptoms and risk factors.
Advanced symptoms of prostate cancer include:
-blood in urine or semen
-lower back pain
-discomfort in the pelvic area
Risk factors for prostate cancer include:
-50 years of age or older
-African Americans are more likely to be diagnosed
-family history of prostate cancer
