New gun laws now in effect in AL

MONTGOMERY, AL (WTVM) – Several new gun laws are now in effect in the state of Alabama with the passing of House Bill 47. 

Several of the new firearm laws include:

Defendants convicted of committing a violent crime or with an order of protection filed against them cannot own a firearm.

Probate judges are now required to report every person involuntarily committed or found not guilty due to mental defect.

Employees can keep a firearm in their privately-owned vehicle while parked or operated in a public or private parking area.
