New Gun Laws In Alabama

New gun laws just took effect in Alabama this week.

House Bill 47 stirred up controversy on the topic of mental illness and gun control.

The new law allows people under the age of 18 to possess and own a pistol if he or she has consent of a parent or legal guardian, as long as that adult is not prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The new laws also address mental illness which will now require probate judges to report certain mental health information into National System law enforcement officials review before issuing gun permits.
