House of Heroes honors Army staff sergeant with service project

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The service of Staff Sergeant James Springer was honored through service provided from House of Heroes on Friday.

Twenty soldiers from Comanche Troop 31 Cavalry honored his service by performing minor repairs to his wife, Loretta Springer's home.

Springer was presented a flag for her husband's service to the army and his country. Springer was a bit emotional talking about how her husband and everyone in the army lives to give back.

“To give back to those that were here before us and serving this country before we were, it’s actually super important our value this time we do it as often as we can I just started not too long ago this is actually the second job I’ve done with house of heroes,” said Spc. Robert Payne said.

Springer served 20 years in the Army, two of which were spent in Korea. He passed away in 2002 as a hero to his family and nation.
