RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – An East Alabama man that had been missing since Sept. 2 has been found safely, according to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office dispatch late Sunday night.

Caleb Hanson, 21, of Phenix City, was found late Sunday, was located after 11 p.m. Sunday and taken to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus for treatment. Hanson was last seen on Sept. 2, and community members had rallied together to search the area for him since his disappearance.

Caleb’s brother, Aaron, confirmed with News Leader 9’s Irisha Jones that his brother was lost in the woods the past few days and made it by drinking from nearby streams he found.

“He told us he finally came out of the woods by Big Cat gas station on Highway 80 in Phenix City,” Aaron Hanson said.
