Columbus man robbed at gunpoint during Labor Day bike ride

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A Columbus man was robbed of several items during a Labor Day bike ride on the Rails to Trails bike path, according to a Columbus Police Department incident report.

The report indicates that the 42-year-old male was robbed of his Sig Sauer P228 .9mm pistol, a mountain bike and his backpack, all totaled at $1,250.

The alleged armed robbery happened on the bike trail near Hilton Avenue and Willis Road around 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 7. The victim says the suspect pointed a pistol at him and demanded the items. He was not injured during the robbery.

A vague description of the suspect on the report states that the suspect is a black male with medium to dark skin, short hair that were possibly in twists and average height and weight.
