MACON, GA (WTVM) – A Columbus man has been officially convicted of charges stemming from a 2014 run-in with police that involved a stolen handgun and drugs.
According to the U.S. Attorney in the Middle District of Georgia, Arsenio Brundidge, 27, was convicted of one count of cocaine possession and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on Thursday.
The conviction comes after a jury was shown evidence that on Nov. 2, 2014, Muscogee County Deputy Sheriff Clinton Powell attempted to serve outstanding arrest warrants to Brundidge when he fled.
Following a brief chase, Brundidge was captured by law enforcement. During the chase, Brundidge got rid of a loaded Jiminez Arms .9mm handgun in his possession, along with a small amount of marijuana and cocaine. The gun had been reported stolen a month earlier.
Brundidge, who has seven prior felony convictions, will be sentenced on Dec. 15, 2015.
