AL man struck, killed by ambulance in Stewart Co.

STEWART COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -

County officials are speaking publicly after an Alabama man died following a deadly collision with an emergency vehicle in Stewart County, GA on Sunday afternoon.

Georgia State Patrol reports that 63-year-old Jairus Nichols, of Lincoln, AL died when the motorcycle he was riding hit a Stewart County ambulance that was on an emergency call.

The accident happened at U.S. 1 and Green Groove Road. The county coroner says she took pictures of the injuries, but that investigators did not feel an autopsy was necessary. 

The ambulance was driven by 45-year-old Scott Brown who works for Stewart County EMS, who officials say had his flashing lights on. 

Georgia State patrol continues to investigate this case.
