COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Chamber is leading the effort to prevent major cuts on Fort Benning.
According to Executive Vice President at the Chamber, they have received 4,000 electronic signatures to stop sequestration.
The goal is to have 25,000 by mid November.
"In November we can go and present to our elected leadership in Washington, not as a threat but it has a positive point of support to say we want you to vote what is right," Gary Jones said, Chamber Executive Vice President.
The cuts would reduce the budget to $500 billion. The impact could be seen as early as December of this year.
