Auburn man arrested in Aug. 23 shooting

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - On Tuesday, September 15 the Auburn Police Division arrested 30-year-old Montavious A. Finley from Auburn on a felony warrant for Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling.

The arrest is the result of an investigation by Auburn Police into a report of a shooting into an occupied dwelling that was filed with police on August 23.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. that day, officers responded to a shots fired call at a residence in the 300 block of Boykin Street.

The victim reported that an individual fired multiple gun shots into his residence and fled.  No one was injured, but the residence did sustain minor damage.

An investigation into the incident was immediately initiated by Auburn Police and Finley was developed as a suspect and subsequently identified as the shooter.

Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest charging him with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Auburn Police searched for Finley with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals' Service Fugitive Task Force.

As a result he was located and taken into custody by Auburn Police and members of the task force at a business near the intersection of Vaughn and Taylor Roads in Montgomery.

Finley was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $50,000 bond.
