COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Rite Aid is rewarding students in the Columbus area with several scholarships.
On Thursday, 14 students were given scholarships totaling $67,000 during a special in-store event.
The scholarships are part of a nationwide effort this month, with store associates honoring nearly 300 recipients of the Folds of Honor Award.
"Folds of Honor has really changed me and my mom's life because we get to do things we may never get to do. They are paying for me to take scuba lessons and I might be able to get on the seal team and go out in the ocean and swim," Dakin Dicenzo said, scholarship recipient.
Folds of Honor was founded eight years ago by Major Dan Rooney, an F16 fighter pilot.
Organizers have raised more than $70 million and awarded nearly 8,000 scholarships over that period.
