New initiative could be "game changer" for local small business

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The Business Council of Alabama is teaming up with Auburn Athletics in hopes of changing the game for one small business in Alabama.

There’s a new competition underway that will give a small business the chance to become an official 2016 Auburn Football sponsor for free.

The process for this competition is simple: interested business will need to fill out an application and tell the Business Council of Alabama in 150 words or less why a sponsorship like this would be a game changer for them.

The winner will be advertised in Auburn Football Illustrated. They will also get a spot on Auburn Football Radio and exposure on the ribbon board inside Jordan Hare Stadium.

Organizers of the contest say it could be just the boost a small business needs to get the word out about the services they provide in the community.

“I am hoping the exposure is more about small business recognition of the people of Alabama and others even if they are visiting from another state to understand the importance of their community and recognize small businesses. It is truly the engine of job creation,” said William Canary, President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama.

There is still plenty of time for your small business to get in on the action. The competition continues until January 29. A panel will select the winner from the applications received and the winning small business will be announced on March 1, 2016.
