COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The sports world lost a true legend Wednesday when iconic baseball player Yogi Berra passed away at the age of 90.
The New York Yankees catcher appeared in an astounding 21 World Series and coined several well-known phrases, including "it ain't over till it's over."
Berra also appeared in what became the longest running Alfac duck commercial "Berra at the Barber" which aired for five years.
Aflac released the following statement Wednesday regarding Berra's death.
"Aflac joins the entire nation in mourning the loss of an American icon. While Yogi Berra starred in only one Aflac television commercial called "Berra at the Barber", the enduring image that he left with Aflac customers and television viewers across the country was profound. We honor him as a Hall of Fame athlete, a distinguished veteran of World War II and an extended part the Aflac community. Our condolences go out to his family and his large circle of friends."
