COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police are searching for an armed robber and they need your help locating him.

The InstaLoan business on Macon Road in Columbus became the scene of a crime on August 22.

"There's one lone suspect who came in and inquired about a loan and at that time he then displayed a firearm and took an undetermined amount of U.S. currency," said Officer Paul Moody with the Columbus Police Department.

According to Officer Moody, the suspect not only robbed the business – employees who were inside were also robbed at gunpoint.

A surveillance photo captured the image of the suspect when he entered the business.

The suspect is described as being in his mid-30's approximately 6-feet tall weighing around 200 pounds and sporting a beard.

He is considered armed and dangerous and police want him off the streets as soon as possible.

"If you run into this individual, do not take things into your own hands,” Officer Moody said. “Call the police department and any information you give us is very helpful in this case.”

If you recognize the suspect in the surveillance video give Columbus police a call at (706) 653-3400.

Any information you offer police will remain confidential and may be the information they need to rid the streets of this wanted criminal once and for all.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that will lead to an arrest.
