APD arrest 2 teens on robbery charges

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – The Auburn Police Division arrested Tommie Tyson Jr.,19, and 18-year-old John Kennedy on three counts each of robbery in the second-degree.

On Friday, Sept. 26 around 11:30 p.m. Auburn police received a call about a 24-year-old man being physically assaulted and a pizza was taken from him in the 200 block of Armstrong Street. Officers were then given a description the suspects and responded to the area.

Later, Auburn police received another report regarding two victims being assaulted and their property being taken.

Minutes later the police officers saw two individuals matching the suspect’s description in the area of one of the incidents, and they attempted to contact them. The two individuals then ran and were taken into custody after a brief chase.

Both suspects were identified as being responsible for assaulting the victims and stealing their property. The items stolen were recovered from both suspects.

Three of the victims received injuries during the robbery, one victim suffered minor scrapes and bruising and was treated at the scene. The other two victims were taken to East Alabama Medical Center where they were treated and later released. 

Tommie Tyson Jr. and John Kennedy were transported to the Lee County Detention Facility and they are being held on a $150,000 bond. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
