COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Youth organizations in the Chattahoochee Valley received donations to help support their causes.
The annual "Thunder in the Valley" Air Show presented $36,000 to several organizations on October 8 at noon.
The presentations also served as the kickoff meeting to start planning for the 2016 Air Show.
Among the organizations that received donations were the Chattahoochee Council Boy Scouts of America, Russell County Child Advocacy Center and Storybook Farm.
"This particular even gave $36,000 back to the community and Storybook Farms benefits enormously individually," said Wade McKinley with Storybook Farm. "It allows us to provide equipments for the kids, helmets, boots, things like that and it also enables us to care for the horses."
The Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home, Muscogee County Sheriff's Department Rising Star program, Ft. Benning Santa's Castle, The Literacy Alliance and Young Eagles were also awarded checks.
The show also provides fundraising opportunities for youth groups by allowing them to run booths like concessions and carnival activities. WTVM is one of the sponsors for this exciting event.
The 2016 Thunder in the Valley Air Show is scheduled for April 16 and 17. Visit their official website at this link for more information.
