PIKE COUNTY, GA (WTVM/ABC) – A six year boy from Pike County, Georgia, left an adorable message for his parents after he passed away Friday from a rare amoebic infection in his brain.

Leland had been in critical condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, and had been sick nearly a month and was admitted to the hospital nearly two weeks ago.

Amber Shoemake said, “We were in shock and broke down as soon as we saw it. He was amazing in life and still after his passing. He touched everyone he met and we are amazed at how many lives he’s touched since he left us,” in an interview with ABC News.

The parents of Leland Shumake found a letter on the living room table when they returned home from the hospital to pick out clothes for Leland to be buried in. It is not known exactly when Leland wrote the letter.

Leland’s mother, Amber, shared the touching letter on the Prayers for Leland Facebook page. The letter written in red marker says, “Still with you. Thank you mom and dad.”

At the end of the post Ambers writes, “We will love you forever Leland. Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!”

The family has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for Leland’s hospital bills.
