WINTER HAVEN, FL (WTVM) – A Winter Haven man has survived a horrific crash that split his vehicle in two when he slid off the roadway hitting a tree.
Early Tuesday night, 20 year-old Carlos Pino of Winter Haven started sliding on the wet roadway and lost control of his silver 1986 Nissan 300ZX, crashing it into a tree. The car split in two with the front part of the car on one side of the tree and the back part of the car on another side of the tree.
Pino, who was wearing his seat belt, was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Health with non-life threatening injuries. The wet roadway and speed appear to have been a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
