COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Voters in Muscogee County will be able to cast their ballots on Sundays in all future elections.
The Board of Elections and Registration held the final of three forums Thursday night to hear from the public about the idea.
Many believe Sunday voting will maximize voter turnout.
"The board has heard from the community and has decided to do the Sunday voting," said Nancy Boren, Director of Elections and Voter Registration.
"It will be on the Sundays during early voting in addition to the two Saturdays and it will be for every general primary as well as every general election," Boren said.
The Board of Elections conducted a six month study and found that many believe Sunday voting will be beneficial for the community.
