COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - One local college purposely set a dorm room on fire on Wednesday.
Don't worry, it's not what you think – and it was all for a good cause.
Columbus State University held a burning of a mock dorm room Wednesday as part of Fire Prevention Week.
The mock burning was meant to illustrate just how quickly a dorm room could burst in flames.
"Students were amazed by how short it took for the whole dorm room to go up," said Asmita Piya, CSU Resident Life Coordinator. "Last year when we did this it took 5 minutes for the dorm room to burn up."
On Thursday, CSU will host the showing of a documentary called "After the Fire," at 7:30 p.m. in University Hall.
