Most Wanted: Leon Harmon Jr.'s murder

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

Phenix City Police need your help solving a case that has gone cold involving a man fatally shot in cold blood at an after-hours bar and his killer, who is still roaming free.

In the early morning hours of April 13, police discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds at Richardson Lounge in Phenix City.

Both men were transported to a Columbus Hospital, but only one survived.

"They tried to operate on him but he died from his wounds," said Columbus Police Officer Paul Moody.

Officer Moody said 29-year-old Leon Harmon Jr. was pronounced dead almost one hour after he was shot.

Now friends and family of the victim are left grieving and angry over what they call a senseless act of violence.

"He got a little girl,” said Elroy Castille, a friend of Leon’s. “They don't think about the kids. Had custody of the baby, great father, hardworking man, didn't bother nobody, didn't bother nobody."

However, there's one way the victim's family can find peace and that's if you come forward with information that can help police make an arrest in this case.

Although this case has gone cold, the smallest details you can give police could make a difference.

"Arrests are very possible this long afterwards,” Officer Moody said. ‘Whether it was a month or two or all the way back earlier this year or another year."

So give police a chance to right a wrong that was done to a man and help put his killer behind bars.

If you know anything about the murder of Leon Harmon Jr. you are asked to contact Phenix City police at (334) 298-0611. You can also contact Columbus police at (706) 653-3400.

Remember, you don't have to give your name when you call in your information.
