United Way hosts golf tournament

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Three hundred golfers hit the links on Thursday to play golf for a good cause.

United Way of Chattahoochee Valley hosted the annual tournament at Bull Creek golf course.

People came from all around the U.S., and one even came from out of the country to take part in the event.

Organizers say it’s all about bringing together people for a good cause.

“This is an event that brings together our employees,” said Tana McHale of Pratt & Whitney in Columbus. ‘It brings together our supplies and our customers.”

“Every year it gets better,” added Scott Ferguson, president of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley. “We had 300 golfers playing on both courses, morning and afternoon. I can't thank them enough because that money stays right here locally.”

Ferguson says they hope to raise around $90,000 from the tournament, which will benefit United Way.
