FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - A mass casualty training exercise is being conducted on Fort Benning on Monday.
A media release on post says an increased presence of first responders on or near the installation may notice an increased presence of emergency response vehicles and hear sirens across the installation.
The exercises will take place near Lawson Army Airfield. Training exercises keep first responders' skills sharp in the event of an actual emergency.
Soldiers, families and civilians who enter post through the Fort Mitchell access control point are advised to give extra time between 10 a.m. and noon.
The training exercise requires the closure of Sunshine Road (along the airfield) for approximately 15 minutes once the exercise begins.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time traveling to their destinations on post today when traveling near the airfield.
