FACT CHECK: Jackson Police warn parents these are NOT 'Halloween Candy'

The Jackson Police Department has posted a picture on its Facebook page as a warning to parents.

The picture shows pills of various shapes and colors; including some shaped like dominoes, the Superman logo, and others imprinted with the Facebook 'LIKE' thumbs up.

Their message to parents: "If your kids get these for Halloween candy, they ARE NOT CANDY!!!
They are the new shapes of "Ecstasy" and can kill kids through overdoses!!!
So, check your kid's candy and 'When in doubt, Throw it out!!!'
Be safe and always keep the shiny side up!!!"

We talked to police who told us, while there haven't been any incidents like this locally, they still believe it's a warning worth sharing.

The fact checking website, Snopes, has looked into whether or not the claim has any basis in reality.

Their analysis found "there's little reason to believe drug-laced Gummy bears and Ecstasy will be found in kids 'trick-or-treat bags' this Halloween."
