COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The community had the chance to see the newly renovated 4th Street Towers at an open house Tuesday morning.
The renovated building is located on 3rd Avenue, and community leaders say the renovations now represent a new beginning for the apartments. The construction cost an estimated $800,000 and 20 units were renovated.
"The previous culture was something we were very concerned with. It was perceived as a place where illicit activity was going on. We wanted to clean that up. We did not want to be associated with being a landlord that would have that kind of culture existing within," Reverend Johnny Flakes said.
People who live in the area hope the renovations will make the apartments more family friendly and a safer place to call home.
