Armed robbery suspect caught in Paulding County

DOUGLASVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

An armed robbery suspect is now in custody after he allegedly pointed a gun at a victim and stole their farm equipment.

Police said Joseph Baxter was found in an abandoned home.

Deputies said during Baxter's getaway, he allegedly fired shots at deputies. 

The shooting caused South Paulding High School to go on lockdown. School was not in session when the shots were fired but some students remained at the school for after school programs.

Baxter has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement, aggravated assault, entering an auto, and two counts of criminal trespass.
