COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A Florida man that was wanted on charges involving federal child sex crimes will appear in federal court in Columbus on Monday.
Germain Jackson, 29, of Jacksonville, FL, was arrested during a traffic stop in Schley County on Oct. 25, about 50 miles southeast of Columbus.
Jackson was wanted in Florida for one count of the transfer of obscene materials to minors and one count of coercion or enticement of a minor.
According to sworn testimony from unsealed United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jackson is accused of communicating with a 13-year-old boy in Tampa. The testimony details lewd acts between Jackson and the boy over Facebook messenger, text messages, Skype and on the phone beginning in August 2015.
The boy's mother discovered the messages and turned the evidence over to the FBI in Tampa.
Jackson, according to the FBI, was a church keyboardist. A warrant was filed for his arrest on Oct. 6 in Orlando, FL.
Jackson appeared in federal court at 4 p.m. on Monday.
If convicted, Jackson could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for transferring obscene material to a child and a sentence of 10 years to life in prison for the charge of inciting a minor online for sexual purpose.
