RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – According to a post on his Facebook page, Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor says that his department is investigating a number of home burglaries in the area.
The post, from Oct. 28 says that they are "currently conducting an active investigation" regarding an increased number of burglaries across Russell County.
When asked via Facebook message, the sheriff's office confirmed that "most of the burglaries we are currently working are in the Fort Mitchell area."
The message says a number of arrests have been made in the last three weeks, but they are not releasing the names of the people arrested, their charges or any other information because the investigation is ongoing.
"At the conclusion of this investigation, I will hold a press conference to inform the citizens in greater detail. Furthermore, I continue to ask for your assistance in solving these crimes," the post said.
Sheriff Taylor urges residents to continue reporting suspicious and unusual behavior to their office.
"This information is extremely valuable in helping my office stop the recent increase in burglaries," the message says.
