OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation will hold a press conference on Monday about a deadly officer involved-shooting in Opelika on Halloween night.
According to officials, an Opelika police officer attempted to perform a traffic stop when the driver refused to pull over, leading to a short chase late on Oct. 31.
The name of the man shot in the incident has been released. The Opelika chief of police says the suspect's name is Bennie Lee Tignor, A.K.A Bernardo Benito Tignor, 56.
The officer involved has also been released. The officer has been identified as Jared Greer, 29, who has been on the police force for three-and-a-half years. Officer Greer has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
The officer was not injured during the incident. Dash camera video does exist and is now in the possession of the SBI.

The car finally stops and the officer attempted to take the man who was reportedly armed into custody and that's when the shooting began.
Tignor was transported to the hospital where he died.
