Driver's license offices closed by the state of Alabama are reopen on a limited basis.
The offices will open one day a month; a few will be more than that.
The Governor decided to re-open them on a limited basis, after criticism that the closures will negatively affect poor counties and minorities. Governor Bentley says once a month should be plenty for most areas and that the issue isn't race related.
"It is a budget issue and it is a rural issue. And here again it's one of the issues we have with rural counties," says Alabama Governor, Robert Bentley.
Critics also said it would affect voters in these areas, because Alabama requires a form of identification to vote.
