Ft. Benning hosts Soldier for Life Job Transition Summit

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

The Fort Benning Soldier for Life Center is hosting a Transition Summit from Nov. 4-7.

The summit includes a free hiring fair for service members, veterans and military spouses; business and career presentations by top entrepreneurs of American Dream U; and one-on-one workshops that will help Soldiers, veterans and Family members hone their job-seeking skills.

The Soldier for Life Transition Summit will feature informative and interactive panel events, recruiter training and discussions on improving competitive employment for service members, veterans and military spouses, in addition to a networking reception for employers, senior leaders and job seekers. 

Soldiers, veterans, retirees and family members can participate in the following summit events:

Nov.  5

9 a.m. - Job Seeker Registration

10 a.m. - Hiring Fair

Nov. 6

9 a.m. until 5 p.m.  – American Dream University sponsors world class entrepreneurs and speakers with career advice

Nov. 7

8 a.m. - ADU Networking

8:30 a.m. - Dream Job Tactics/Strategies

It's the 15th year of the event and representatives of Mercedes Benz says that this year's raffle is its biggest yet. "To date, we've raised over six-hundred thousand for the Heart Association. Columbus Police Department investigators said they're still working to find out who shot and killed 37-year-old Laura Mae Chaney in 1998.   Chaney's body was discovered early morning on Jan. 4 - her body, riddled with bullets outside an apartment in what was then called Peabody Apartments off Talbotton Road.
