Opelika teen turns himself in following burglary charges

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – Auburn police arrested 18-year-old Vantavious Hughley from Opelika on warrants charging him with burglary in the third-degree and theft of property in the second-degree.

The arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation by Auburn police into a burglary that was reported on Oct. 13 in the 1300 block of Hamilton Road.

Some unknown person(s) unlawfully forces entry into the residence and stole assorted jewelry valued at $3,700.

An investigation into the incident by Auburn Police resulted in Hughley being identified as the individual responsible for committing the burglary.

Some of the jewelry was recovered and warrants were obtained for Hughley’s arrest.

He then turned himself in to officers at the Auburn Police Division.

Hughley was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $6,000 bond.
