COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens is known as the 'event of the season' and it brings family and friends together to watch thoroughbred horses race over timer and brush hurdles.
There will be tailgating, pony rides for the kids and many more activities planned at Steeplechase.
"We work all year long for one day and we completely manage this course and get it ready for the best Steeplechase horses in the country to come all the way to the southern most steeple chase and race right here at Callaway Gardens," Kim Kapcziewski said, with Callaway Gardens.
Two junior horse races will be selected for competitive riders 16 years old and younger.
Proceeds from Steeplechase will go to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Historic Columbus, Opera House, Ida Cason Callaway Foundation, Columbus Museum and the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. Each of these organizations will receive $30,000.
