Former Falcons coach visits Columbus children's shelter

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - An NFL coaching legend stopped by Columbus on Wednesday to advocate the importance of area children's shelters.

Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan reeves was keynote speaker for the 3rd annual fundraising luncheon for the Columbus chapter of St. Luke Methodist Church's Methodist Home for Children and Youth.

The Methodist Home was founded in 1872 in Macon, GA and serves children, youth, and families in crisis across multiple Georgia cities, including Columbus.

Coach Reeves says the cause is close to his heart because it's important all kids grow up in a nurturing environment.

Another big name is already scheduled to headline the luncheon next year. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy is scheduled to be keynote speaker in 2016.
