Cufflinks and Pearls draws large crowd for FCC week

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A big crowd turned out at the Columbus River Center for Performing Arts Thursday night for an evening of networking and fun.

The 8th annual "Cufflinks and Pearls" event was held as part of Fountain City Classic week in Columbus.

Award-winning journalist and radio personality Ed Gordon was the special guest. He talked to the crowd about why it's not only important to vote, but to do their individual part to bring about the change the want to see.

"We all have a part in making America better. I think sometimes we look to leadership or we look to others to make things better and we sit at home and complain about what isn't going right. So really at the end of the day it's up to all of us to make this country as great as it can be," said Gordon.

Gordon signed copies of his new book, a compilation of his commentaries from the Steve Harvey Morning show on iHeart Radio.

Events are planned through Saturday for the Fountain City Classic which culminates with the football game between Fort Valley State University and Albany State University Saturday afternoon at AJ McClung Memorial Stadium.
