RICHLAND, GA (WTVM) - The Richland Renaissance Festival, formerly known as the Richland Pig Fest, is expected to have a big turnout in Richland, GA this weekend.
Ruthie Hamlin, an organizer for the event, stopped by our studios on Monday to give us a preview.
"It's a beautiful day," Hamlin said. "We have competition between the professional cooks and also the backyard pig fest that evening and all day long we'll have events on the Budweiser stage. We have a beauty contest, we have local bands and dance teams coming."
Hamlin said it's a barbecue competition sponsored by Kansas City BBQ and Charbroil, who will be bringing in major teams.
"Oklahoma Joe's is coming and he will be cooking in the competition as well as doing some cooking demonstrations and giving away free food in addition to that," Hamlin added.
Hamlin said there will also be several singers and performers, including the Slaughter Creek Band. Afterwards, the evening will close with a big fireworks show.
"We have also lots of children's events and we have a carnival that is starting on Wednesday Nov. 11 and will be going on throughout the fair," Hamlin said.
There will also be pony rides, a petting zoo, and much more.
The Richland Renaissance Festival starts on Friday, Nov. 13 from 3 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. until midnight.
