Graduation rates discussed at school board work session

Graduation rates, dual enrollment, and changes at several schools were all discussed in depth during Monday night's Muscogee County School Board Work Session.

There was a lot of debate about how if a student is accepted to dual enrollment and doesn't maintain the requirements, they will be dropped from that program and sent back to their original school.

Also, officials with the school district presented newly calculated graduation rates with Carver, Jordan and Kendrick High Schools between 76- to- 79 percent.
"There have been a lot of things the district has done to realign the structures that are in place already, adopting curriculums and things that equipped teachers with the tools," says Research and Accountability Director, Patrick Nopf.
Columbus High School's latest graduation rate is 99.6 percent.
The school board also talked about the renewal of Clubview Elementary as a charter school, because of its success.
Debate about the future also included the hiring of architects for the rebuilding of Spencer High School and projects like Fort Middle School's gym, paid for by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
