CPD arrests second suspect in sports bar shooting death

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Police Department has confirmed that a second suspect has been arrested in the shooting at a sports bar that left one man dead.

On Oct. 9 at approximately 11:30 p.m., CPD was dispatched to the 4th Quarter Sports Bar at 6959 Macon Road in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival the officers located Dominic Mitchell suffering from a gunshot wound.  Mitchell was transported to the Midtown Medical Center ER where he passed away from his injury.

The initial investigation led to the arrest of Demark Ponder who was charged with the murder of Dominic Mitchell.

This investigation continued and has led to the additional arrest of James Daniels, of Pine Mountain, GA for the charges of murder and armed robbery.

Daniel's Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. in recorder's court.
