COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A group of local women got together Thursday night for an evening of fine wine and high fashion, all while benefiting a local staple within the community.
The Muscogee County Library Foundation hosted its Wine, Women and Shoes event at the Columbus public library.
Around 400 women showed up for a glamorous fashion show, the chance to shop a special collection of apparel and accessories, and of course, a tasting of fine wine.
Laura Ann Mann with the Muscogee County Library says this fundraiser is all about the value the library provides to the community.
"I don't think the libraries get enough credit for the work they are doing," Mann said. "Working in childhood literacy, helping patrons find jobs, we are holding parent workshops, we have a fabulous genealogy department."
This is the first year Columbus has hosted the event. Women also took part in a live auction with a chance to bid on items such as travel packages.
