COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A well-known historical building in Columbus has been named to the Top 10 List of Historical Places in Peril in the state of Georgia.
The historic Claflin School in Columbus was named to the list created by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.
The list highlights historical sites that are threatened by demolition and/or neglect.
The historic Claflin School opened in 1868 as the first school in Columbus for African Americans.
Recently, a group called the "Friends of Historic Claflin" have been working to restore the school to a fully-functioning educational center.
