COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus High volleyball star Shardonee Hayes made it official on Tuesday afternoon, signing a scholarship with Arizona of the Pac-12.
Hayes, who played for two state champions with the Blue Devils, earned prep All-American status this past season. She cited the track record for Arizona coach David Rubio as the deciding factor in signing with a program based on the West Coast.
"He recruits players that may not be the top players in the country, but he develops them into becoming All-Americans in college," Hayes said. "His last All-American, nobody recruited her and now she's an All-American for all four years and she's playing overseas professionally. So I feel like it's a good environment for me."
